UK General Election 2015 prediction

With the political, statistical and other pundits disputing each other on whether Conservative or Labour will form the next parliament, it is perhaps the right time to jump off the fence and say what I believe the astrological charts tell me who will win the 2015 UK general election.

The closing of election voting booths in the UK is 10:00pm on Thursday 7 May 2015, signifying that the people have cast their votes and all that there is left to do is to count them. The chart for this moment, set for Westminster, is therefore the symbolic chart for who will form the next government.

Immediately we can see in the symbolic event chart that Saturn is sitting within one degree of the Ascendant. Jupiter in the 9th house rules the Ascendant (change of power). Saturn deposits the Moon and Pluto in the second house (the people are fed up with austerity and want to get rid of the incumbents).

It isn’t hard to see how Saturn, structure, is tied to the globalisation of Sagittarius in such away that the next UK government will have to work within the limitations already inherent in the world’s financial situation. In easy words, the world has no money and we are in a right mess. No government in one country can change what is happening. Therefore they can only work within the limitations that the global financial restrictions allow. See Greece, their elected left wing government and how they are dealing with their debt as a work in progress that is slightly ahead of where the UK is right now.

To the Conservatives, this chart means cutting money from anything but banks and businesses. There has been a concerted effort of the Conservative’s coalition government to penalise those on welfare benefit and to encourage insecure jobs and zero hours contracts. The UK people are mostly disenchanted by this and they are weary of stinging cuts to government and local council jobs that drain services to the barest minimum.

These are very unpopular policies and yet Saturn on the Ascendant signifies a ‘back to basics’ style of government. The necessities of life are very much at the forefront of the minds of the electorate and it will be the basic policies on which the electorate casts their vote. However, Saturn determines that whoever get into power on 7 May 2015, there will be no room for wasteful policies or budget giveaways. On this we will watch closely to see if the abolition of the bedroom tax is fulfilled.

The natal chart for the Conservative party, 12 November 1867, 12:00pm UT Westminster, shows Mars at 3º Sagittarius, right on the Ascendant for the close of the polls. The lesser and greater malefic join at the point of presentation to the people. It is a party at war with everything and transiting Pluto at 15º Capricorn is within a few degrees of the Conservative Ascendant (18º Capricorn), suggesting that it will be a short step from self destruction as both it and the UKs political stability fragments. David Cameron is unlikely to remain as leader of the party if they are in opposition.

The Labour party’s chart, 12 February 1906 12:00pm UT Westminster, has Jupiter at 27º Taurus in conjunction with the transiting Mars (6th house) of the election chart. Transiting Saturn is just in the 12th house and transiting Mars in the 6th, so action (Mars) needs to be taken to improve the basic needs (Taurus) and well being (6th house) of the people. This is in opposition to the austere cut to the bone presentation that the electorate have experienced and will remember when going to the polls. It is the hope of the electorate that a new government will make their day to day lives a bit easier. But the secondary chart of the Labour party at the time of the election has a Venus Neptune conjunction, which suggests visions of illusion and glamour. Also in secondaries there is a stellium of planets in Gemini: Mercury, Sun, Jupiter, Pluto and Mars. The feeling I get is of a government weighed down heavily by every day minutiae, unable to formulate any meaningful progressive policies and discovering that it does not have anywhere close to the money it needs to do anything effectively. I also imagine that if the Labour party forms a government it will have to wade through the treacle of parliamentary interference and deliberate bureaucracy. With Saturn on the Ascendant, nothing will come easy.

The Liberal Democrat chart 7 March 1988 0:00am GMT Westminster, has few aspects to merit but there is a Uranus Saturn conjunction at 0º - 1º Capricorn that is in conjunction to the transiting Moon of the election chart; both in the 2nd house. There will be a long standing memory that the Lib Dems, in their coalition with the Conservatives, went back on their promise to not raise tuition fees for students. Then they supported a huge hike in fees. Despite their leader apologising on TV for making a promise he could not keep, the poll ratings for the Liberal Democrats plummeted. I expect therefore that the Lib Dem seats in the house of commons will crumble, contrary to many polls. Moon and Uranus have a common symbolism of divorce; freedom from (Uranus) the people (Moon). If there is any prospect of coalition with Labour, they would most likely change their policies more to the right to balance Labour’s inclination to lurch to the left (Liberal Democrats secondary Sun is applying very loosely to the natal Uranus of the election chart).

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) has a chart that suggests it could win seats. Their main policy has always been to hold a referendum with a view to exiting the European Union. The chart, 3 September 1993, 12:00pm BST Westminster, has a number of loose but influential connections. Transiting North Node 8º Libra opposes the natal Moon at 6º Aries suggesting that the party has a wide populist appeal but the extreme right wing element of the party (and here curiously is a Uranus Neptune conjunction at 18º Capricorn) makes it a little too radical for a populace that is not ready for yet more wild and chaotic change. Transiting Pluto at 15º is only three degrees from the Uranus Neptune conjunction, which conjures up the ongoing notion that the status quo (Pluto) of left wing (Neptune) and right wing (Uranus) politics is under the UKIP spot light. They want to rip apart the two party system and are happy to pick away at the corruption and statistical mendacity. So UKIP has no chance of winning the election but their natal chart suggests that they will be around and making a nuisance of themselves for the next parliamentary term. The secondary Sun at 2º Libra is close enough to the election chart Midheaven to believe that the party’s leader, Nigel Farage, is a strong candidate to win his seat in Parliament. If nothing else the inclusion of UKIP has great entertainment prospects and could even embarrass a few politicians with some home truths.

The Green party has been a minor party for some years with at least one parliamentary MP but a much wider public appeal. As such they have been acknowledged as an influential political party even by their peers. I do not know the chart being used for the party but it’s origins go back to a meeting of the founders in a pub in Daventry on 13 October 1972. I have given it a time of 8:00pm only because this would be the usual meet up time in a pub for many. What strikes me immediately about this chart is the Jupiter Moon conjunction at 1º Capricorn, which is conjunct to the transiting Moon of the election chart 2015. There is a possibility that the Green party could increase its share of the vote, as voters have already become disenfranchised with the main stream political parties but want to register a vote. Whether this increase translates into seats remains to be seen. The transiting North Node is also conjunct to the Mars of the Green Party at 8º Libra. The focus of the people on what is fair is something the Green Party will want the electorate to take action on. Furthermore, the transiting Midheaven of 0º Libra is in conjunction with natal Pluto, 2º Libra, suggesting that the Green Party could indeed gain influence in balancing the power of what looks increasingly like a weak Labour minority government. Transiting Saturn is also conjunct to the Green’s natal Neptune. This might be a natural choice for those voters who do not want to vote for the Liberal Democrats or Labour. It could well be considered a protest vote and yet with secondary Mercury thrown into the Saturn Neptune conjunction - and with the Green Party joining the live television debates, it is possible that some people may take the Green policies a little more seriously than they did before.

So my prediction for the UK 2015 election is a weak minority Labour win. Conservative and Labour will hold their safe seats, so as the loathsome First Past the Post system retains the same old votes, thus disqualifying millions of voters from ever being represented by their preferred political persuasion, the only real democracy then falls to the ‘unsafe’ seats. Cheadle, which over the last 15 years has been held by Liberal Democrats... but only just. Now that will be an interesting result.

Can real proportional representation capture the intended votes of the majority? Of course it can http://shaneward22.blogspot.co.uk/2009/05/real-proportional-representation.html

Two other parties should be mentioned: The Welsh party Plaid Cymru (pronounced ‘plied cum-ree’) and the Scottish National Party (SNP). I suspect that both parties will hold their ground, which might mean that they become influential in swinging votes in favour of whatever main party will deal with them.

The 2015 election chart is not a good one for any political party. Mars is at 26º59’ Taurus; very close to the fixed and most violent star Algol. I expect that, if nothing else, the Labour party will want to expose as much corruption and filth as it can from these last five years of the coalition government. I hope that some good reforms can come out of it but it will not be pretty. Expect an attack on banks, bankers and bonuses. Expect the City of London to be hostile to the new Labour government. Expect that money will not be where the Government wants it to be, so tax raids on the rich may be the only futile gesture Labour has to show the electorate that it means business. But above all, expect endless squabbling, disharmony and lots of finger pointing. The object of this game is to obfuscate, discombobulate and bamboozle the electorate. Unfortunately I expect many who do not read this kind of blog will become victims to the smoke and mirrors of political bickering and journalistic propaganda.

But all the point scoring in the world will avail nothing because Saturn is in Sagittarius and the UK economy is a puppet on the world stage. Control over the UK economy is an illusion - no government with such huge debts has much of a choice if they wish to dance to the tune of the IMF, the BIS and the corporate wishes of large institutions. Through no fault of it’s own, Labour will be presiding over the biggest global depression since the 1930s. Theglobal financial reset is already underway. Labour will happily point out the illusions and denials of the Conservative years. One can almost hear the bickering now and yet it is right that main political parties show their true colours, and the reality of their lack of control, in these dark times. It is a necessary process for people to understand that what they vote for has changed dramatically. Just as the UK has devolved areas of authority to Wales and Scotland, so the global capitalist system has dictated monetary policy. It is just that the main stream political parties are in denial and the press who are supposed to keep you informed are ruled by those who do not want you to know what is really going on.

The most immediate dangers to the UK electorate is to make sure that the whole globalisation agenda does not force through the evils of GMO foods and corporate mugging through TTIP. And for this reason I would encourage anyone who has not decided if they will vote or not to go ahead and vote. I would also encourage people to vote for any other party than the Conservatives, Labour or Liberal Democrats. None of them can change what is about to happen but none of them work for the people because they are sponsored by business donors or unions. What we need globally is a political force that really does represent the people. This will not happen while the elite and the corporate powers hold political parties to ransom. You will also not hear this from corporately owned newspapers (that’s all of them) so stop buying newspapers because they do not tell you the news.

What this election should show you is all that is so wrong with the current financial and political system. We are approaching an enormous turning point in 2020 where the changes we would like to see can be possible if we did but focus and pay attention to what is wrong now. The 2020 election leads us into a ‘fixed’ societal period with a focus on development of every day living. One hopes to see the separation of casino bank and high street, to ensure that the crash of 2008 and 2015 do not happen again.

For the record, it was not Labour that caused the credit crunch but they did not save money when they could have. It will also not be Labour’s fault that the world will go into a global depression but they will be frustrated at every turn by the willfulness of the Conservatives to sabotage any possible benefit to the people. As with every day since their foundation, they will not be working for the people. Now is the time for this to change.
